1. Membership
in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) is required and mandatory for membership in the Valley R/C Flyers if you
intend to fly. This is required for safety purposes as well as for individual
and flying site insurance coverage.
2. Prospective
new members are welcome to visit and participate in club meetings and field activities. Prospective new members are permitted
one (1) familiarization flight without AMA membership. The familiarization flight must be under the control of a current club
member. Under no circumstances will the non-member’s aircraft or equipment
be used for this flight. No one can be accepted for official active membership
in the Valley R/C Flyers until proof of AMA is verified and recorded in the club records.
3. All
visiting flyers who are current members of a recognized R/C club are welcome to use the field when a member (or members) of
the Valley R/C Flyers is present. Visiting flyers must show proof of AMA before flight activities begin. Visiting
flyers who are not members of another R/C club, or who live in the surrounding area, are allowed 3 flying familiarization
visits after which they must join the Valley R/C Flyers to continue to fly.
4. Dues
shall be $50.00 per year per member.
The annual or new members dues will cover a family membership of
junior member(s) if they meet the following conditions: 1) They must qualify with the AMA’s under 19 years old
category, 2) They are living with an adult club member, 3) They are a full time
student.
In addition to a family membership for a youth, any
youth under 16 years old who qualifies with the AMA’s under 19 years old category and is not the dependent child of an adult club member may join the club for an annual membership fee of $1.00. The $25.00 one time registration fee
for such a youth member shall be waived.
Annual dues are due September 1st. Dues
for new members will be prorated at $4.25 per month from the first month of membership up to August 31st. New members will also be assessed a one time registration fee of $25.00. The prorated cost of $4.25 per month only applies to new members.
Previous members wishing to renew their membership after having let it lapse, must pay the full annual $50.00 membership
dues to be re-instated to active membership. Members will automatically be
dropped from the active membership roster if dues are not paid by November 1st.
All dues and fees paid to the
Club are made on a non-refundable basis.
NOTE: If any club member in good standing has verifiable unusual circumstances that present a
significant hardship in them meeting the above obligations to remain an active member, the club officers as a group, may vote
to waive these requirements for said member for the current club year.
5. Annual
election of club officers shall be held at the regular meeting in September. The Annual election shall be called for as soon
as possible after September 1st. Officers shall consist of President,
Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer. Other club officers, Safety Officer
and Field Marshal, may be appointed or elected at this same time.
6. If
an appointed/elected Field Marshall is not present, the highest ranking elected officer present will act as Field Marshal. His duties will be to see that safe flying and order is maintained at the field.
7. Any
member may be dropped from the club membership for violations of the following: Non-payment of dues, failure to obey club
or AMA rules, any behavior deemed to be offensive, abusive, obnoxious, or dangerous that the member will not modify(must be
voted on by the club membership).
8. Club
shall be open for membership to anyone without regards to race, sex, religion, or national origin.
9 Any
problem that causes difficulty in operating the club in the best interest and welfare of all its members that are not specifically
covered in the clubs bylaws and operating rules will be settled by a meeting of the club’s officers and made part of
future rules.
10. If the club membership
desires, regular meetings of the membership will be held quarterly on the first Sunday of September, December, March, and
June at the club flying field. Members will be notified of any alternate meeting dates or locations.
11. Strict adherence
to the official AMA Safety Code and the Valley R/C Flyers Rules and Field Operation Rules is required and must be observed
at all times.
